Description: This dataset is a compilation of point features that represent numerous source master datasets, including but not limited to: schools, fire stations, police stations, hospitals, County buildings, religious structures, parks, and park features (e.g. splash parks, playgrounds, etc.). The purpose of Points of Interest is to have a reliable dataset of notable point features for use in emergency management and dispatch, as well as general cartographic needs. Where possible, private businesses were omitted from this dataset and can be found within the Strathcona County Business Directory (cemeteries and airports are the only exception to this rule because they are good landmarks, and permanent structures). This dataset is also not meant to be used as an asset inventory – if the feature is not required for cartographic or emergency management purposes, it should not be included in this dataset. The Facility ID field is an identifier that is more legible than a global ID (GUID), and shorter and more concise than a name field. In cases where the name field may not be unique, or the name is too long to display cartographically, the label field can be used as an identifier. Please note this field may change, therefore it should not be used in any data integrations.
Description: Each rural township features plans of survey registered at Alberta Land Titles at an accuracy of +/- 3 metres, Alberta Township System line work (road allowances and quarter sections) which is built from ATS survey coordinates, and primary hydrographic features that have been digitized from the 1:20 000 topographic base.Urban files are accurate to +/- 15 centimeters, and a municipal grid organizes each file into several 800m x 600m map sheets within their municipal boundary
